The national squad gather together on May 7 in preparation for three upcoming matches as part of the second round of Asian qualifiers for the 2022 FIFA World Cup.
Due to the impact of COVID-19, the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) has moved to strengthen prevention and control measures as a way of ensuring the safety of the national team, including vaccinating them against the virus.
Before receiving the vaccine, all members of the national squad must take samples as part of the COVID-19 RT-PCR test every seven days.
The VFF requests that the national team continue to follow COVID-19 prevention and control measures during their both their training camp in Vietnam and their upcoming fixtures in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
Members of the Vietnam squad are required to limit contact with others and must report any meetings with people outside the team’s bubble to the head coach.
The footballers and the coaching board receive their second shot of the COVID-19 vaccine on May 7. This comes as they held their first training session at the Vietnam Youth Football Training Center in Hanoi on May 8.
The team have now been fully vaccinated in preparation for upcoming matches in Group G of the 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifiers which will be held in the UAE.
Vietnam are scheduled to take on Indonesia on June 7 followed by Malaysia four days later, before concluding the second qualifying round with a fixture against hosts the UAE on June 15.
They are due to fly to the UAE on May 27 in order to adapt to the local weather conditions and the pitch. They will also play Jordan in a friendly game which represents an important test for both teams ahead of the World Cup qualifiers.
