VOV.VN - Local artworks have left an impressive footprint in the international auction market, with an increasing number of Vietnamese pieces receiving bids at high prices. Let’s take a look at the most valuable paintings by Vietnamese artists throughout years.

In April, an oil painting on canvas by Mai Trung Thu entitled Chân dung Madam Phương (Portrait of Mademoiselle Phuong) fetches a record price of more than HKD24.3 million at a Sotheby's Hong Kong Auction, representing the highest price ever paid for the piece. The artwork is measured at 135.5 x 80cm and was originally created back in 1930.
Tan mộng (Disillusionment) was a 1932 painting by artist To Ngoc Van. This piece is sold at HKD9.125 million at the Christie’s Hong Kong Auction on May 26, 2019.
A notable piece created by Le Pho entitled Đời sống gia đình (Family Life) during the 1937 - 1939 period goes for HKD9.1 million on April 2, 2017.
Another Vietnamese masterpiece Thiếu nữ choàng khăn (Young Lady Tying Her Scarf) painted by Le Pho in 1938 goes for a bidding price of HKD8.65 million on May 24 at the Christie's Hong Kong Spring Auction.
This artwork titled Cảnh ngôi chùa cổ ở miền Bắc Việt Nam (View of a Famous Old Pagoda's Landscape in North Vietnam) by Pham Hau in the 1930s reaches HKD8.04 million at an auction held by Sotheby's Hong Kong on April 18.
Người phụ nữ bên các con (Woman and children) was created by Le Thi Luu in the 1960s, with the piece being sold for HKD6.83 million at the Sotheby's Hong Kong Auction on April 18.
Nguyen Phan Chanh's silk painting Em be ben chu chim (Child with Bird) from 1931 fetches HKD6.7 million at an auction held at Christie’s Hong Kong on May 27, 2018.
