Nine residential areas in Go Vap district and six others in Hoc Mon district have been put into lockdown. Some others in Tan Phu and Phu Nhuan districts and District 12 have also been cordoned off.
A small alley in Go Vap district has been blocked since May 26 after a positive case detected linked to the outbreak at the Revival Ekklesia Mission.
At a residential area in Go Vap district, hundreds of people have been banned from leaving their home for COVID-19 testing.
Some residents have chosen to order food through home delivery services.
Lockdown has been imposed on alley 415 on Nguyen Van Cong road in Go Vap district where the Revival Ekklesia Mission is headquartered on the night of May 26.
As the mission’s headquarters is small the risk of pandemic transmission remains very high, according to Ho Chi Minh City’s Department of Health.
Followers of the Revival Ekklesia Mission gather at the headquarters every Sunday to worship.
An on-duty official supports locals receive food deliveries in the alley where the mission’s headquarters is based.
