Kumquat tree growers in Hanoi village busy ahead of Tet

VOV.VN - Located in Tay Ho district of Hanoi, Tu Lien village has been increasingly bustling over recent days due to many local people coming to order kumquat trees ahead of the Lunar New Year festival, known locally as Tet.

With just over one month to go until the arrival of Tet, customers can enjoy soaking up the enthusiastic working atmosphere of farmers in Tu Lien village amid the cold weather.
Each garden spans a total area of around 1,000 square metres with thousands of kumquat trees.
Tu Lien village is a familiar site for local people every Tet holiday. Locals seek to purchase their favourite trees to decorate their houses with as the kumquat trees are believed to bring good luck and prosperity for their families over the festive season.
The Bonsai kumquat trees of Tu Lien village are renowned for their unique shapes and sizes, with this item picking up in popularity among shoppers for Tet decorations in Hanoi.
A kumquat grower is busy pruning the leaves of the trees, as well as shaping and bending the branches.
A pot with a bonsai kumquat tree in costs around VND1.5 million. Some come in unique shapes and can be worth up to dozens of millions of VND.
Locals arrive at Tu Lien village in order to make purchases with the Lunar New Year holiday just one month away.
Tu Lien kumquat trees are famous for their unique and eye-catching shapes. Every Tet many people are willing to pay between a few million to tens of millions of VND in order to purchase a tree for their home.
Visitors to the area are lured in by the beautiful colour of ripening kumquat trees.
As a means of meeting the increasing demand during the buildup to Tet, gardeners must hire extra workers. The kumquat trees can be spotted on sale at local markets from December every year.
