The chemical force of Military Zone 7 is tasked with carrying out prevention work in co-ordination with HCM City’s Military Command.
Approximately 2,000 soldiers wearing protective gear are deployed in order to undertake the task.
Over 500 specialised vehicles are utilised to spray various key venues in the city.
On-duty officials of the city’s wards also participate in the disinfection campaign.
The campaign has been launched after thousands of COVID-19 infection cases were detected every day.
Soldiers begin work on sanitising key areas on July 23 morning, and the campaign is to last for seven days.
The chemical force is on hand to co-ordinate with local authorities to ensure that security and traffic safety are maintained throughout the entire city.
Residential areas and roads in Thu Duc City and Binh Chanh district are fully sterilised on the morning of July 23.
The disinfectant chemical Cloramine B is sprayed along the city’s main roads.
Forces are split into two groups with 16 vehicles used to disinfect two districts each day.
Major venues of particular attention include isolation areas, hospitals, markets, and residential areas.
Along with disinfection work, local authorities request the residents to strictly abide by COVID-19 guidelines.
