The event is held as part of the “Ao Dai – Vietnamese Cultural Heritage” programme which has been launched by the Vietnam Women’s Union, aiming to honour the cultural value of Ao Dai.
The event sees more than 600 outfits by 15 local fashion designers, including Minh Hanh, Chu La, and Ngoc Han, Miss Vietnam 2010, debuted.
As many as 400 models move down the catwalk in a show attended by the spouses of the Italian, Indian, and Laotian ambassadors making an appearance.
A number of actresses play their part as they appear as main models throughout the show.
