Hanoi business outlets hit hard by latest COVID-19 restrictions

Tuesday, 12:17, 25/05/2021

VOV.VN - Following the recently-reported COVID-19 cases within the local community, Hanoi authorities have ordered a temporary closure of business outlets and eateries until further notice, with this move having a negative influence on numerous traders throughout the capital.

Whilst normally bustling, streets such as Kim Ma, Xuan Thuy, De La Thanh, and Hang Bong are left extremely quiet due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Whilst normally bustling, streets such as Kim Ma, Xuan Thuy, De La Thanh, and Hang Bong are left extremely quiet due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Plenty of business outlets around Hanoi are forced to temporarily shut, with many firms facing losses.
Fashion stores, travel agencies, beauty salons, and eateries located on Kim Ma street are forced to close as business owners are unable to afford to rent their premises or pay their worker’s salaries.
Catering services are considered to be the most heavily-impacted by the country’s ongoing COVID-19 fight.
A number of business outlets located in Hanoi’s Old Quarter remain quiet, a huge contrast compared to normal days.
According to many traders, foreign tourists are viewed as key customers for many enterprises which operate in Hanoi’s Old Quarter. Therefore, it’s easy to understand why they now face bankruptcy.
The owner of a fashion store announces that they will sell off all of their items before returning the store to the landlord.
A business owner on De La Thanh street says he decides to halt operations because he is unable to sell any item and has now gone a long time without making any profit.
A number of eateries decide to shift from eat-in to either take-away or delivery services.
Other business outlets must now sell a variety of goods in order to earn a living during efforts to combat COVID-19.
Signs advertising property for rent have become a common sight on many streets throughout Hanoi.
The COVID-19 pandemic has taken a heavy toll on many local enterprises.
Although a notice on the property advertises it for rent, the landlord has so far failed to find anyone interested.
