A woman and two men are among the first group of volunteers to receive the 25mcg shot. They have been chosen from over 200 people who have signed up for the testing.
The vaccine is produced by Nanogen Pharmaceutical Biotechnology JSC, one of the four COVID-19 vaccine producers in Vietnam. Nanogen has also purchased insurance for the volunteers.

Plenty of reporters are on hand to make coverage of the special event.
Before the trials take place, the Military Medical Academy holds a press briefing to announce the testing campaign. Nano Covax is the first Vietnamese COVID-19 vaccine.
Health Ministry officials inspect post-injection rooms at the Military Medical Academy.
At present approximately 300 volunteers have registered to participate in the trial of the Nano Covax vaccine.
After receiving the injections, first three volunteers will be closely monitored by the Military Medical Academy over the first 72 hours in order to see if there are any unexpected reactions.
During the first 56 days following the initial injection each volunteer will have their health checked as part of the ongoing research. They will also be observed for a period of six months from receiving the first vaccination.
A room which can hold 12 volunteers is set up to monitor the vaccination process at the Military Medical Academy. After 72 hours, volunteers are permitted to return to their places of residence. The Dec. 17 vaccination is part of the first of three phases of ongoing vaccine trials in Vietnam. The initial phase will run until February, 2021.
Lieutenant General Do Quyet, director of the Military Medical Academy, confirms all preparations have been carefully made, with the goal of the first phase of the vaccination being to ensure the safety of the volunteers involved.
