The festival, co-organised by the Vietnam Tourism Association and the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Tourism, aims to honour the value of bread for Vietnamese cuisine, as well as the skill and creativity of bakers.
Nguyen Thi Khanh, chairman of the Ho Chi Minh Tourism Association, says each visitor is able to find baguette with countless options available throughout the festival.
The festival features a total of 120 pavilions of domestic and foreign restaurants, hotels, baguette shops, suppliers, and businesses.
The event also includes a ceremony which seeks to honour top long-standing and famous baguette brands in Vietnam, as well as a workshop on the development of Banh Mi in the country.
The organisers plan to hold the festival over the following years to popularize the Vietnamese delicacy globally.
The baguette is a popular dish in Vietnam. Ham, pate, herbs, pickles, and sliced green chili are must-have fillings.
Recently Banh Mi has ranked seventh among the best street foods in the world by TasteAtlas, a website dedicated to discovering fresh ingredients, traditional dishes, and authentic restaurants around the world. The Vietnamese baguette has also been named among the 50 best street foods in Asia by CNN.
The festival provides impressive check-in spots for visitors.
The first festival set to last through to April 2 is expected to attract around 50,000 visitors.
