Local authorities of Quang Yen town host a ceremony marking the 733rd anniversary of the Vietnamese victory at the battle of Bach Dang river over the Mongol invaders under the leadership of General Tran Hung Dao.
The festival opens with a majestic art performance.

A performance is held with the aim of reenacting the famous battle which took place on the Bach Dang river in 1288 under the leadership of General Tran Hung Dao.
The highlight of the occasion is a procession which carries the Saint Tran Hung Dao statue from Tran Hung Dao temple to Yen Giang temple.
Local people in Quang Yen town join with visitors from neighbouring provinces as they prepare numerous offerings and join in the procession from the early morning.
Thousands of citizens participate in the procession held on the banks of Bach Dang river.
Elderly members of the community play a key role in the procession.
A mother carries her child as they run through the procession. It is believed that this ritual will lead the child to be both healthy and smart in the future.
The annual four-day festival also features cultural activities and folk games which serve to entertain crowds.
