Earning a living in the scorching sun

In Da Nang city, the temperature sometimes reaches over 40 degrees Celsius, making outdoor workers feel very exhausted.

“I have no choice. When I feel tired, I rest for a while and then go on,” says Le Thi Be, a lottery seller who earns VND100,000 per day.

Nam, a builder in Hue city, says his daily work usually starts at 7am and ends at 5pm.. “We stop working on rainy days and have to work hard to sunny days. Though it is hard, we have income. That’s life.,” says the builder.

After every ride, Cao Van Son, a cyclo driver in Hue city, found a shaded place to have a short rest on his own cyclo.
