Central region seeks response measures against Super Typhoon Noru

VOV.VN - Localities from Thua Thien-Hue to Binh Dinh have guided thousands of vessels to urgently seek safe shelter, while residents have quickly sought measures aimed at protecting their houses against Super Typhoon Noru which is currently heading towards the central coast of Vietnam.

Over the past three days, coastal provinces from Thai Binh to Ha Tinh and several southcentral localities have witnessed up to 250mm of rain. Super Typhoon Noru is forecast to strike the central coast at midnight on September 27, or in the early hours of September 28.
In Phu Yen province, a total of 396 fishing vessels with approximately 2,380 people on board have now found shelter from the incoming storm.
Border guards in Quang Ngai province called back vessels operating at sea, urging them to move to shore before 8 a.m. on September 27.
Local authorities in Quang Ngai province plan to evacuate a total of 24,600 households before 6 p.m. on September 27, including 84,400 people from areas at risk of flash floods and landslides, amid Super Typhoon Noru heading to the central region.

Da Nang and Quang Nam, along with Quang Ngai and Binh Dinh provinces, are likely to be hardest hit by the storm, with the natural disaster risk at Level 4.
Quang Nam province plans to evacuate over 400,000 people to safer places ahead of the storm’s arrival.
Local authorities are required to keep a close watch on developments relating to the storm, while also guiding vessels to seek safe shelter, supporting farmers to protect their aquatic farms, and evacuating people.
