Under the plan, Samsung will erect a 21-storey facility located at Nguyen Xien Street in the Hoang Mai District on land rented free from the city under a finance lease arrangement that runs in 50 year increments.
The research centre cover aspects that Samsung is keen to develop further, said city officials on March 30, including mobile phone design, parts and chips.
The facility is expected to be placed into operation prior to January 2020.
It is expected to create good paying jobs for an estimated 400 professionals in architectural, engineering and other trades related to the mobile phone and electronics industry.
In connection with the announcement, Han Myoung Sup, general director of Samsung Electronics Vietnam, said the facility is another shining example of Samsung’s commitment to the Vietnamese market.
