The Consulate General in his address presented the challenges and opportunities for Japanese businesses to invest in the Vietnam economy, emphasizing the opportunities in high-tech agriculture.

He emphasized the role Vietnam has played in leading economic growth in Southeast Asia over the past decade.

In addition, the Consulate General cited the advancements in the Vietnam economy over the past few years and enumerated the fundamental changes that are currently underway placing special emphasis on good governance, educational reform, and inclusive growth.

He encouraged Japanese businessmen and women to seriously consider Vietnam for its highly trained workforce, improved investment procedures, strategic location, quality of life, and openness to foreigners.

Following the Consulate General, speakers from the Japan Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, Japan External Trade Organization and Japan International Cooperation Agency took turns addressing the gathering.

All of the speakers were receptive to exploring further opportunities for trade and investment, saying they were particularly bullish on pursuing investment opportunities in high-tech agriculture.

They suggested that the two countries could work collaboratively in the field for mutual benefit and make substantial improvements in the nation’s agricultural production, processing, preservation, and distribution, thereby profitably increasing competitiveness of the agriculture industry.
