It said the audit would focus on financial reporting, capital expenditure, management and use of public resources and assets, especially with respect to construction projects and the management of fares.
The auditors will also review a plan to restructure Vietnam Airlines and the efficiency of financial supervision at the carrier and its subsidiaries.
All activities carried out between April 1 and December 31, 2015, will be audited.
Last year Vietnam Airlines reported pre-tax profits of VND1.4 trillion (US$62.7 million), 129% of its target, on revenues of VND70 trillion (US$3.14 billion).
