Deputy Director of the State Bank of Vietnam (SBV), HCM City branch, Nguyen Hoang Minh said most of the remittances came from the US and EU and flew into production and business, rather than real estates, securities and savings as in the past.The amount of remittances depends on the macro economy of the host country, guest workers’ situation and remittance services. Remittances to HCM City grew 10-12% annually over the last five years.Mr Minh forecast that in the current situation, remittances to the city may reach US$5.7-5.8 billion this year.
