The prices of young tra fish for breeding also showed an upward tendency due to shortage of the fish and increasing breeding demand.
To date, farming areas for tra fish in the Mekong Delta totalled more than 5,140ha, a decrease of 1.3% year-on-year while output in the first nine months of this year hit 998,000 tonnes, up 9.8%.
Localities with largest breeding area and output of tra fish were Dong Thap province and Can Tho city with 390,000 tonnes and 134,000 tonnes, respectively.
