Following a joint decision by the Ministry of Industry and Trade and the Ministry of Finance, the prices of diesel 0.05S and kerosene also increased VND474 and VND489 per litre, respectively. It was the second fuel price hike after four consecutive falls in recent times, with a total increase of nearly VND1,400 (US$0.63) per litre. Under the joint decision, RON 92 and E5 are sold at no more than VND16,076 (US$0.72) and VND15,836 (US$0.71) per litre, while the ceiling prices of diesel and kerosene are VND12,388 (US$0.55) and VND10,985 (US$0.49) per litre. The two ministries also decided to keep retailers’ contribution to the Petroleum Price Stabilisation Fund unchanged and give them a subsidy of VND300 per litre for RON 92 and E5 from the fund.
Fuel prices gain over VND700 per litre
The prices of RON 92 petrol and bio-fuel E5 were raised VND702 (US$0.31) and VND611 (US$0.27) per litre from 3:00 pm on September 5.
