On March 31, NA deputies approved a resolution on electing NA Chairman and the National Election Council (NEC) head with 100% of approval votes.

Madame Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan became the first female top legislator in the history of the legislature

NA leader Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan was the first leader who was sworn into office.

In the swearing-in ceremony, the newly-elected NA Chairwoman pledged absolute loyalty to the fatherland, the people and the Constitution of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam. She promised to exert efforts to well fulfil the tasks assigned by the Party, State and people. 

On April 2, lawmakers approved a resolution on State President election and Mr Tran Dai Quang was elected as the new State leader with 91.50% votes

In the swearing-in ceremony, newly-elected State leader Tran Dai Quang promised to make every effort to well fulfill the tasks assigned by the Party, State and people and to accelerate the reform process.

On April 7, Mr Nguyen Xuan Phuc was sworn into office after being elected the new Prime Minister by the National Assembly.

“In front of the national flag, the National Assembly, the people, and voters nationwide, I vow my resolute loyalty to the nation, the people, and the Constitution of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam. I promise to make all-out efforts to well fulfill the tasks assigned by the Party, the State, and the people,” PM Nguyen Xuan Phuc said.


He extended sincere thanks to Nguyen Tan Dung and other predecessors for their contributions to the country. 

On April 8, the Chief Justice of the Supreme People's Court Nguyen Hoa Binh was sworn into office after being elected by the NA.
