President of the Vietnam Fatherland Front and Vice President of the National Electoral Council Nguyen Thien Nhan said the May 22 election is an important political event and an important task in 2016.
“One of the top priorities of the Vietnam Fatherland Front is to nominate eligible candidates through consultative meetings. This is part of preparations by the National Electoral Council to prepare an official list of candidates for the election. Electoral committees will make and announce official lists of candidates for elections of members of People’s Councils at all levels,” he said.
The results of this meeting will be submitted to the National Electoral Council and the National Assembly Standing Committee.
Official nomination of candidates by central agencies will be carried out from February 24 to March 10.
