All dishes were cooked with imported ingredients from their hometown by Ma Chi Tan and Duong Bao Son, two famous Vietnamese chefs working for the Hyatt hotel chain – the organiser of the event. Hyatt representative Andre Troy Botha said the company had planned to promote Vietnamese cuisine for a long time.

With the help of the Vietnam Embassy in the host country and local media, the festival received a warm welcome, he shared. Vietnam Ambassador to South Africa Le Huy Hoang lauded the well-prepared event, saying it is the longest promotion of Vietnamese food and will contribute to expanding trade ties between the two nations. Trade between Vietnam and South Africa hit US$1 billion in 2014. It is expected to be doubled in the years to come.
