According to the organizing board, Vietnamese women who are unmarried, from 1.62m in height and high-school graduates can register to compete. Those who have had plastic surgery are not eligible to participate. 

Contestants will compete in four categories, including evening wear, ao dai, swimsuit and Q&A. 

The winner of Miss Vietnam 2016 will receive US$25,000 (VND500 million) while the first and second-runners up get US$15,000 (VND300 million) and US$10,000 (VND200 million), respectively. 

The final round of the pageant will be on August 27 in Ho Chi Minh City with the preliminary rounds taking place in July.
